A selection of recent work from Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland and across North East England: families at home and on the coast, newborn babies in their first fortnight, bumps photographed in the last weeks of pregnancy, and couples who came for engagement or anniversary portraits.
Everything here was photographed in natural light, on location: living rooms, kitchens, parks, woodland and the beaches between Tynemouth and Cresswell. There is no studio, no props and no set list of poses. I guide gently, then step back and let the session unfold, which is why so many of these frames are of people looking at each other rather than at the camera.
